Necro Tether

I don't hate the change, but please make sure the pet always follows you when you jump off something, Because with the new tether range I'm losing pet a lot more cuz its 50/50 if pet follows you or just walks around to catch up to you (mainly in fights on bridges/walls).

Also: why nerf the tether range if you are going to change how GTAOE works anyway ( based on votes ive seen)

Yeah I'm not sure why this was changed.
I'm pretty sure there used to be a warning message if you got close to the tether limit. No warning now.

Needs a blinking shade when close to tether limit as well as the old message.

Okayyyy after playing a bit more the new tether is really annoying.

Zerg push or pull ( pet is rooted) where is my pet? opps lost it.

chasing someone off a bridge, pet runs around it, opps lost pet.

Necro is the only class that goes from good to worthless when the pet is too far, the tether nerf solved 1 problem to creat 5 more.

This change was knee jerk reaction to a GTAOE problem that is looks as if it is going to get fixed. This change was not fully thought out, how about, after 1000 units the pet cannot be put on here/stay/go target, and instead just goes back to follow?

We're currently going through the ancient reports in the tracker, among them was this one https://tracker.playphoenix.online/issues/6c64c609-2957-49e6-bf7f-dbab2eee4266

Looks like there was an issue with the values though, next restart will increase it by 500.

A bit more details about the mistake for those interested:
There is value 1 for the hard cut off and then value 2 for the warning range, the way it works in code is value 1 - value 2 to get the warning range, the values were entered assuming wrongly it's value 1 + value 2 for the hard cut off and value 1 being the warning distance.

Thank you for your response, though it seems as if the problem presented in this post isn't as much of a necro issue as it is a pets going through the door issue.

Sure but at the same time the hard cut off range should be 2000 (1500 fading) not the 3000 that it was before, until the next restart it's 1500 hard cut off and 1000 fading

Not enough. HoT range of shade is 2000. Necro tether range should be at least that!

You nerf the tether range based off a year old bug report, without testing it first?

Issue Timeline - Horus created a year ago
Was defending an alb keep against a retake. A necro pet entered through the closed bottom tower door and was able to go all the way to the very top tip of the tower and melee attack me.

This was old frontier keeps, where the distance to lord/roof was short if you stood next to the balcony doors.
Yet every other pet range is ignored and can be freely recast to attack the target inside.
Given the pathing on this server, I don't understand why its been changed at all.

My apologies, I’m having difficulty understanding the vision behind this change. Necros currently have 2 pet based spells that extend out to 1500 range (shade casted DoT) and 2000 range (Shade casted HoT) that reflect what was originally planned for the class (having a 2500-3000 range Tether).

To give you a battle scenario in my experience playing necro: the normal strategy to fight a necro is to kite the pet hit it and repeat, one of the tools the master has to combat this is to use the masters ranged spells (dot/hot) if the pet can be quickly kited out of tether range the master has no chance to cast a 3 second spell effectively due to the current Tether changes without risking the pet’s instant death.

I don’t want to sound combative but I believe there are better ways around this problem, and all pets going through door problems for that matter. Such as a max range/duration a pet can be aggressive on a target that is not in LoS

Shortening the tether on an already limited class, hurts the classes usability more so than the minor inconvenice it currently creates.
