Hi! I'm between highlander and saracen if anyone has an opinion. And for solo pve are they brutal or can they be quite effective? Any other tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

minstrel melee always sucks no matter what specc in pve, only what pet you choose does matter really

Highlander/Briton for slash
Saracen for thrust
Both are quite good it's really up to preference at that point.. thrust has a 27 sec 60% slow anytime+chain and slash has a 14 sec 60% snare side style
As for the pve question.. minst can solo pve 100% esp because of the pet but they will be slow as hell you're better off finding a group (this goes for every class minus cab/necro) and even then it's still faster to get a group on these classes.

Minstrels can be quite good solo if you grab a high red or purple pet (easy to do on this server, just hold the charm button down) and just smack yellows/oranges.
As for race... Either works really. Highlander gets 5% free resist against mid casters and Light elds, saracen gets free resist agains hib caster trains. I'd still go highlander for the extra con and better looks though
10 Con, 15 Charisma and slash spec.

Sorry but with Thrust the combo slow you mention seems to be with 44 thrust... nobody would spec that... in fact, it seems to me that minstrel thrust has no snare/slow at all.. this is not even good as a peeler in grp...

Why is spec 39 thrust over looked?

go saracean for higher dex for demezz. and go whatever melee spec you want, your weapon damage isnt that good.
