Minst Charm

Didn't they have a perm charm that was for weaker mobs so they didn't have to twist for a pet?

What are the chances of having this skill implemented or at least altered to where a Minst (and like classes) could play two song simultaneously?

I see some Minst don't have issues in doing it, but I see most not even bothering with it, leaving out a key feature of their skill line.

Not at this patch level... you had to twist to keep a pet and speed up.

You can have a number of active chants at the same time via twisting. You can keep a pet, ablative up (cool down means it can only be up 6 out of 8 seconds), speed and power regen all at the same time for example... its exhausting to do manually but we are allowed to bind multiple keys to a single press here. So utilise that gaming keyboard well and it’s perfectly manageable.

You are right, a lot of minstrels don’t bother. I assume this is because you really can’t afk at all if you do. Not even for 10 seconds. You must be at your keyboard all the time. It’s even harder if you’re trying to control a high level pet.

Not sure the more modern perma charm will get traction here, but who knows.

Well, the actual dedication needed into twisting multiple charms is not the issue, and honestly keeps the minstrel fun (something to do is most cases). However, the "way" to have to charm a pet is what I'm trying to refer to. In a 8v8 and or intense battles (most) cannot even utilize the skill set needed to maintain it properly and therefore not use it.

Player looses sight of pet only to have charm break and become under attack having to stop what he/she is doing to re-charm.

Player must be clicked on his pet 24/7, making it difficult to get enemy target quickly. Whether for CC or location (rangers/hunters). Have to off click your pet from constant charm chanting to wait for the 2nd or 3rd free it to get a name lock.

I think this setup is fine for if a minst wishes to charm a Orange+ mob. They are wanting a stronger pet, and therefore need to be more difficult "pay" for it essentially. However, my argument is for if a minst wants a green, blue, yellow pet, I feel it should be perm based much like the sorc, and what it changed to in later patches.

I wouldn’t be that bothered if they introduced it. But I wouldn’t use it as I like to keep a high level orange or red pet.

But honestly with a low level pet charming doesn’t require constant swapping (if you are not twisting). The resist rates is so low on anything yellow or below just ensuring you have the charm up is fine.

So:

Make sure you have the ‘pulse’ window up so you can quickly reference what current chant is running.

Have target pet / charm keys bound to the same button. Using a gaming keyboard or some other thing (although having them next to each other works too, this just saves on qbar space.)

Entering combat... Check pulse window and make sure charm is up. Forget it after this.

Casting mezz/ablative... Just make sure to hit your target pet/cast charm again after then go back to whatever.

Yes it can be fiddly but you should not be spending that much time worrying about it on a low level pet where you are not monitoring resists. Even less if you just don’t use ablative.

Yes monitoring LoS can be a pain sometimes but just bring your pet back with passive in these situations.

But managing this is for me what makes the minstrel fun. It’s a lot more intensive with 30% resist pets. I appreciate it’s not for everyone you need to be monitoring so much all the time as a minstrel but it’s what makes the class powerful.

Well of course perm charm shouldn't be happening for high level mobs. Even something like a Ment's charm to where it recasts on its own if it breaks it break, if it breaks and re-casts successfully than so be it WOOT!. Perhaps have a spec line charm at level 50 in Instruments to where Minst get a Ments charm, but only castable on equal level or lower instead of OJ's+

The issue majority of the time I see is when leading a group or any amount of people. Its difficult to keep a pet charmed while twisting speed, and than managing to cast a mezz or something when needed than find you pet click on it charm it, than go back to doing whatever. Again, it's not the charm's effectiveness that's the issue or something to complain about, its just the extra step needed to be effective in clicking pet clicking charm, not twisting in general if that makes any sense?

I also don't think people should have to go out to get a gaming setup or download custom UI's ect to make a class in a game effective. Its the games job to be as well balanced as player friendly as possible.

You realise you can make a button to target your pet right? Shift+Click the title bar of your pet window. There shouldn't be a need to find the pet and click on it.

My cycle is:

Target Enemy With Mouse.
Press Button 1 - Cast Mezz.
Press Button 2 - Target Pet.
Hold Button 3 - Spam Charm Pet.

You can press button 2 and hold button 3 whilst the mez is casting, no need to remain with the enemy targeted.
When mezz finishes quickly glance to pulse window to ensure charm is up. Press button 3 once more if not.

Just an FYI as I don't think its likely that the devs will implement this. But maybe, who knows.

Thx Lurk. I didn't know you could drag pet box to quick bar like you can with attack and what not. That helps a lot!.

Still don't like it though xD
