Armsman templating..

Hi there,

I'm looking to make an Armsman for both PvE (DS - Raids) - and RvR.

I'm Highlander Slash..

Was fixing to settle on 39 Slash / 50 Pole / 42 Shield / 13 Parry for spec..

Crafting my own template have a 5-piece MP Set and Sidi Chest.

Questions:

Are there any other items that I should consider template essentials? I was hoping to go weaponless, if so, what average utility will I need in my ROG's to get there?

Is there value in switching MH when taunting multiple PVE Targets? Like, super fast weapon to land then taunts, then switch to slow MH for the damage? Or should I just stay fast MH for constant taunting. Do different sheilds have different attack speeds? Would it be logical to swap to a buckler to land the slam or the reactive and then back to the tower for blocking?

When it comes to Pole, is there a standard weapon and speed that I need?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

For taunting you just want to maintain the hits, so faster is better.
You're a tank, not a melee DPS

For Polearm you can get away with a slow 2hander that does max DPS. If you're in RVR you're probably in a small or 8 man and have buffs. If soloing make sure you have QUI buffs.

The dragon large shield is 3.0 speed, every single other large shield I've seen around 4.5... So that's always been a must in my book. You can also get a crafted small shield to drop the speed down to 2.8, if that extra 0.2 matters so much to you, but be ready to swap a large back in when needed for the higher enemy block count. Personally the dragon shield gets the job done 9/10 times.

A good start if you have no ROGs is to get SI quest necklace, two dragon rings, and a frontier Cloak. After that you only need 4 ROGs

I went Sidi chest, SI neck, one dragon ring, dragon shield and frontier cloak. Two dragons rings was a waste as many rog's have + to all melee skills and the ring's bonuses were wasted. Added some 55+ rog jewelry, 99% armor and 99% weapons.

All stats, resists and hits capped.
