Are necromancers finally viable in RvR?

I see a lot of changes to the necros here but haven't really kept up due to so many changes...question is are they finally going to be viable to play in RvR on this server? I read something about treating pets like they are level 50 on this server for purposes of miss rate, resists etc...does that apply to necros and if so does that mean no more massive damage hits from melee against the pet, and no more uber spell hits due to it being treated like a blue con mob?

The Necro here is more group friendly than it was on live.
The Necro here is weaker as a class than it was on live.

The treating mobs as level 50 is for the high end PvE to allow all classes the ability to contribute, it does not have any bearing on your pet.

The changes here have made it less of a headache to bring a Necro into a group setting, but none of them made the class any more viable than they were on live.

I made the suggestion to add some CC immunity like on live daoc, because atm the necro is PvE only.

Have to agree . Tho necro here is a dam sight better than necro on uthgard. RAs actually work here. Would be great to see some of the pets get the root and mezz immunity like they should have.

Necros may actually go out and RvR a bit then .

They still have a hard time vs being stun nuked.

That's goes for any class really.

I will agree Necros are better here than they were on uth. The other server only wanted to keep the bugs that hurt the Necro and not the ones that helped the class.
There is some of that here but since its a custom server instead of a 1.65 theres really no grounds to argue.

I would think making the necro pet the same level as the player for con purposes (which would translate into lower damage taken) would be the first thing I would do....given the necro is a very unique pet in that the pet effectively is the caster. I'm not sure if this would fix the class or not but it's the first step I would take for RvR effectiveness.

Damage taken isnt really the issue with the class (outside of certain circumstances ie not having the RvR crit cap, debuffs doing max value).

To me the bigger issues are:

Pet takes full duration from all CC with no way to reduce it

Lack of options to increase pet stats. Pet doesnt take into account the casters base stats so it starts with 0 dex so it doesnt even hit the delve cast speed without gear/buffs. No pots/charges available to boost stats.

No form of meaningful CC. While CC has never been a strong point for the Necro but it did have its DoTs which were a form of "caster CC" since it interrupted for a short period of time. Now that DoTs are nerfed there is no ways to actually crowd control adds.

I thought one of the changes here was potions would now buff the pet? Also don't resists transfer to the pet and wouldn't those then reduce CC duration on Phoenix?

They need root / mezz immunity like on live.
They would still have no CC themself and hence no utility and no real reason for a good grp to pick them but in casual grps it might be nice to have a necro not 24/7 in CC.

Nope buff potions/charges have 0 effect on the pet.
Resists do transfer to the pet but they only factor into damage calculations here, pet still takes the full duration of the CC.

Just curious what kind of trade off you would propose for something as powerful as a CC immunity here?

Funny thing is on Sept 27 they actually implemented the PvE rage mechanic but kept it removed it from pets... this would have gave Necros a form of mezz immunity.

Anything that has a chance of killing the precious bd.. then no. This server is biased.

Good thing Mids dont RVR. They are to busy rolling their 18th alt. And the ones who do RVR, are constantly running 4 man groups and feeding.

As rank 1 necro on the server (please hold your clap) this class is already OP as fuck WHEN you know how to use few tricks. So to answer your post necro is more than viable in al rvr forms including solo and zerg. The ONLY change i would love and that would be "fair" is the buffs from potions to apply on the pet.

Well atm your pet is self cast buffed vs none buffed players. Wait till the masses run with pots and charges and your necro will go down much faster.
Since charges and pots won't push your pet but will improve everyone else the tide will change

I think most of players in rvr are already under self buff pots (at least every alb i know are even solos)
