All Hallow's Eve Festivities in Albion? (suggestions)

My fellow Albs!

I've been thinking lately about ways to help build our community here in Albion. Since we are in the month of October, I thought it might be fun to come up with some appropriately themed Halloween activities that we could do to help bring us together as a realm. These would be completely player-directed and would be open to anyone who wants to have a little fun with their realm-mates. They shouldn't take too long (maybe 30 minutes to an hour) so as not to impact normal RvR action. I am willing to help do the planning and organization, but I really need help with coming up with ideas of activities that we can do in-game.

My crazy and silly ideas:

  • Have a trick-or-treat in Albion housing. People could put things on their vendors (not listed on explorer) and people could go house to house looking for special deals on things like dyes, or maybe strange nick-nacks.

  • Have a scavenger hunt. Create teams and run out into the realm to collect strange or interesting items. The list won't be published in advance, so everyone will have to go and collect the items.

  • Naked Albion footrace. I remember reading about this in another thread and thought it might be fun. Roll a level 1 character and run the length of Albion, unbuffed and unaided. Maybe have a leg in the frontier and allow our frenemies to crash the party?

  • Costume contest: have characters come in oddly dyed armor and clothes. Maybe vote on the scariest, most garish, or some other judging criteria.

  • RVR in costume: Everyone wears the same color robe, or non-class standard armor (cloth for arms, leather for clerics, etc.)

  • Tournament: slightly-organized dueling (as long as it doesn't violate server guidelines) with a ladder and/or brackets for different character classes or types.
For the contests, we could give prizes of skins and effects purchased with BPs. We could also give out dyes and lusters.

What do you all think? Crazy? Interesting? Exciting? Let's discuss!

I like the scavenger hunt and naked newbie ideas.

The more I think about it, I think I agree, Turtle, the naked newbie run sounds like the right activity.

Need to figure out a start and end point and some very rough rules, then ... well, we see who would be interested. Thanks for the feedback!

I liked the one where we wear robes out to rvr! Also, I think it would be cool if the staff here would give us Costume potions to wear in rvr for just one weekend in October! I had such a good time using them on Live last October with my guild! It's beta so no need for any qq about it being overpowered (it can be frustrating when everyone is a Luri and random monsters) if you're taking rvr seriously during such a weekend, I do understand.

I really like the idea of a Halloween event, whether it be player made or staff made, it just sounds fun. Keep coming up with ideas.

Thanks, depth!

I think there are some germs of good ideas here, and I would love to hear some more. The more I think about it, I think the Halloween event will be a naked newbie race. I'm thinking two teams, black cloaks and orange cloaks (Halloween colors). We'll provide the cloaks. Everyone starts at one end of Albion and then races to the other. First 2 or 3 of each team that arrive are the winners. Realm speed is ok to use but you need to get it from a hastener along the way. No personal bind stone usage, or releasing-to-city. Everyone binds at the starting area. You can bind at any bindstone you come across, so plan accordingly. Groups are allowed but only with other level 1s of the same color cloak (no minstrel or caster speeds allowed - level 1s don't have speed enhancements). Helms will be allowed (as halloween masks).

2 points I'm still thinking about:
  • Starting and ending points. I'd like the race to go through the frontier for a short stint so the other realms can try to disrupt the race. This would also allow our RvR-oriented crowd a chance to provide protection (and combat opportunities) for the racers.
  • Combat between teams. Should the orange and black teams be allowed to fight each other? With fists only? I'm trying to find a reason why they would do that since winners are evenly distributed between teams. I'd like there to be a rivalry and a reason to stop or thwart the other team while helping your own.

How does it sound so far? Any suggestions for the latter two points?

Hi Friends!

So I did a practice run and it takes about 30 minutes to run from Abdribards in Avalon Marsh to Caer Berk. I think that should be a good route since there is enough danger for level 1s from the environment and opportunity for the other realms to get involved.
I don't think we should allow fighting since this is supposed to be a race after all. Teams will be team chocolate (brown cloaks) and team peanut butter (orange cloaks).

I also had a delightful talk with Vortesha who shared an idea for having an RP Murder Mystery game in Vetusta Abbey for a small group. Think of a game of Werewolf or Mafia, only with a decidedly Albion flair. It sounds like a lot of fun and she has graciously agreed to run it for us! I can't wait to go over the details with her this weekend. Once things are firmed up, there will be an announcement.

And this all got me to thinking, are there any other holiday activities that folks would like to see or perhaps run themselves? More activities, more fun, more Albion pride, and camaraderie!

Hi Friends!
Last question here before I post the announcement! Halloween falls on Wednesday this year. Should we have the event this weekend (early) or have it on Halloween proper? I think we'll have better turn-out on the weekend, but I know some folks might not feel like it's a Halloween event if we have it 4 or 5 days before the actual day. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks!
