Zonal Deathspam... - Phoenix Freeshard

Any chance we could possibly have some kind of chat settings so deathspam is zonal to the zone i am in ?

Currently with others death messages on.. if im in home zone or frontier.. i get death messages into emain , odins , hadrians wall... even if im exp in Lyonesse...

i appreciate the deathspam is to also allow others to see where the RVR action is....

But... is it possible to code that we can have the Option to choose which DM we see? if im in Albion frontier for example.. id like an Option so i ONLY see deathspam from zone im in (Alb frontier)... but i WONT see Midgard or Hib frontier spam.

this would help on several levbels.. 1. less deathspam from the zerg areas... 2. i can possibly see if any enemy is in my area without having to concentrate on 100s of deathspam from all over rvr areas.

IIRC daoc used to be zonal deathspam... very specifically also... if i was in Hadrians Wall.. id only see HW spam... if in Odins Gate only Odins spam.. etc etc.. giving this as a chat option in my opinion would be excellent.

p.s no replies suggesting turn of ALL death messages.... if thats your reply.. your missing the point of my post.

Also DAOC never let you see enemy realm deathspam - only if your realm killed the enemy or they killed you.

I play Hib and shouldn't see Mids killing Albs nor Alb killing Mids since neither of those are related to Hibernia.

It’s been brought up and even as an item on bug tracker. The answer was that it is intended. Please revisit this topic, there is simply no benefit to spamming all deaths without a client side custom setting and makes targeted stalking difficult when sorting through hundreds of kills. For example I am tracking a ranger or ns in df, has he logged out or still killing? While I’m scrolling the spam of kills in Uppland, I’m distracted with information that has no bearing on my experience.
