The current exping system shares all exp equally. Any exp that a character receives over their cap is completely lost.
Additionally, It means that grouping with lower levels is discouraged.
If exp was shared based on levels, then there would be less penalty in grouping with lower level characters.
They would contribute less, but take less exp. Their exp cap would still apply.
It would help with lowbie groups. There would be almost no penalty for taking lowbies into the group.
I suggest that each character's power is considered the square of their level.
A group of 45, 45, 40 would share exp:
Total power (T) = 45^2 + 45^2 + 40^2 = 5650
45^2 / T = 36%
45^2 / T = 36%
40^2 / T = 28%
To prevent it being used to PL, there could be a minimum based on the highest character's level.
40-50: 80% of main character's level
20-39: 60%
1 - 19: 40%
If a character is to low, they get the capped value.
So, a level 1 in a group with a level 49 would be considered a level 39 for exp sharing purposes. A level 49 duoing with a level 1 would have to give up 39% of their exp (rather than the 50% they do now).
