Suggestion to reduce Grey Population in the Task Zerg

People complain about all the greys suiciding for tasks, and some of their points are valid. My suggestion is a multi step process that would help lower levels get a sense for RvR, populate the Battlegrounds, and reduce the greys getting participation bonuses.

1) Increase RR caps from Battlegrounds. Thid RR2L5, Caledonia RR4L9, etc.

2) Add Battlegrounds as valid areas to participate in RvR tasks: keeps, pvp, pve.

3) Make it impossible to benefit from only XP or only RP from RvR tasks. If you want the RPs from tasks, you HAVE to get the XP as well. People will eventually level out with tasks or RR.

4) Add BGs from 1-19.

It won't fix everything, but it will give people an alternative to find action they can actually participate in for the same rewards vs suiciding to the closest keep guard.

RVR tasks are a great and thematic tool to level with in DAoC especially since groups on all sides are fairly "strict" with who they invite for pve.

I'm not disagreeing with that at all.

I'm saying if you can get the task credit in BGs and made the changes I proposed, most people would rather do that and actually feel like they're accomplishing something as opposed to suiciding in RvR every 15 minutes then afking at the keep.

People would do the same thing in the Battleground: Die, wait 15 minutes. The reality is that, for many folks, there's not much difference between Thidranki and Emain.

Emain: die instantly to purple-con players or guards.
Thidranki: die instantly to multiple twinked stealthers.

Whats the difference?

yup pretty much this, it doesnt make a difference for xpers, just for the people which want to rvr in bgs with xp/rp off to the end of times and I personally dont like caledonia with that classic water and too many aggro mobs also I think its too big for the few xpers which could access it at a certain lvl

I’m not sure raising the Realm ranks in the Battlegrounds is the right answer as RA’s bring unique abilities and at lower levels could cause unintended balance issues. Additionally the only RvR task that would be appropriate in the Battlegrounds is keep takes and kills. This prevents the ability to afk and profit to a large extent. I do agree more Battlegrounds would be nice, however I’d also say /rp off should not be allowed ingame then- this forces characters to eventually progress to the next Battleground and eventually the Frontier. Additionally, more valuable mob types and better placement of mobs in the Battlegrounds would greatly encourage more players into the Battlegrounds whether it be to gain good experience, get Realm points, or just have fun time RvR’ing.

I agree increasing incentive in the Battlegrounds would greatly reduce greys in the Frontiers.

xp off is just QoL if you remove it they will just wipe the xp away or lvl a new toon and if people wanna stay in there forever let them do it, I thought about making a sb for there if the action would pick up in bgs to get away from all the zerg in primetime, even none realm task zones often have 5+ grps running arround chasing solos down, at least in those bgs you would be somewhat save of those rp hungry grps but I dont think its worth yet to lvl anything for there especially not with all 3 bgs looking the same and with the water/aggro mobs issue everywhere
