Ok so this topic doesnt explain in a great way what I want to be looked at but it is clearly something that should have been discussed in DAoC long ago and never stayed this way. Let´s be honest, the way the style mechanic and tank mechanic work in DAoC atm is not at all the strength of the game. In fact it´s so bad that it almost certainly preventing people from trying out DAoC if they come from other games with more modern engines.
So the main issue with DAoCs style mechanic right now is that you are almost forced to use a auto hotkey program to macro 2 keys to the same button. Now some people will read this and say "What? I´ve never done that." and well, neither have I but my ability to use queue follow up styles while chasing after someone is greatly limited due
to that.
What happens in DAoC is that when you order your character to do use a style, that style order will not even last for 0.1 seconds if the target is out of range when you make the order. However, if the target is not out of range but you are just waiting on your swing speed to strike the next hit, then the system is completely fine with guarding your action.
I think that the style system in DAoC would be greatly improved by increasing the time slightly for how long a style order will be saved while chasing after someone, even if that person is not yet in the range of being hit. If people wanted to cancel a style order before that, they could do it the same way they cancel style orders when they actually are in range, AKA go out of combat mode or declick the target.
