SoS - Not usable in combat

Suggestion:
Change SoS to not be usable while in combat.

This would make SoS unusable while in combat, but would still retain its offensive uses (use SoS to avoid initial CC during engagements.) SoS could still be used to push through Mile Gates and Keep Doors (use SoS before being attacked/in combat.)

My Opinion:
Changing SoS to be an offensive focused ability instead of an ability primarily used for disengagement should not change the mechanics of RvR. I feel this would still keep SoS valid and worth the cost.

SoS is both a defensive and offensive ability, what are you on about?

Sorry it was hard to read or understand. Have a good day?

I think it's fine as is. They should change the range oh hibs Insta amnesia so we don't have to always use it as a defensive tool

To quoute you:

I said it is already both an offensive and a defensive ability, so what are you on about? I can tell you several offensive uses, that it is being used for on phoenix, and that it was used as in NF. But you either want to hear them or you're just ignorant.

Heads up! This is the suggestion forum.

To clarify my statements: Changing SoS to be an offensive focused ability instead of an ability primarily used for disengagement...

I'm suggesting that it shouldn't be a defensive ability. I hope this helps in your understanding of this part of my sentence.

Oh I see, you don't like criticism.

It's a terrible idea.

I'm alright with that, at least I understand the game.

OK, it's an interesting idea. But what is the problem with it being both defensive and offensive? Isn't that a wonderful thing? People have an option how they wish to use it?

Now that every Realm has it I don't think it's fun or interesting in how SoS is used. It would be awesome to see offensive SoS used more than once or twice a week.

How SoS is used when it's "not fun or interesting"?
/confused

I understand that it would be a way to prevent those damn minstrel to sos away, it would be awesome... but I also realize that is part of the game, since it is used to reposition you and yourgroup in either offensive or defensive position.

"Reposition" is a broad term. Most times it means running away. To be clear I don't mind players running away, but imho SoS is pretty bland when most encounters end with "oh they used SoS..."

The problem I have with it only being used when not in combat is that you narrow it down to be used more or less only on income. Which is the worst time you can use it. Yes it stops the first bowl mezz, but those usually only happen if you get caught by surprise to which SoS is useless for. The fact that you lose SoS the second you do an offensive move just means you're wasting potentially 10-60 seconds for 1-2 seconds in return. Now this can be changed of course to make it affect the team from 2 to 10 seconds without losing it using offensive abilities. This puts pressure on the timing, but do we really want that kind of ability?

Re-position is not a broad term, it is a very strong offensive tactic that pulls your team out of the mess they're in to gain distance to continue the fight. It is the main reason we use it. SoS also doesn't disengage you from combat so your speed can go from a speed 6 to speed 4 in SoS which makes it very easy for groups to catch up. You can also counter SoS to make the attempt entirely futile which is another heavy offensive use.
