My suggestion:
The entire frontier zone of one realm is active as a task area.
Realm task score is accumulated through rvr kills, flags captured, guards killed, keeps owned. The realm task score determines the winner and loser of the task.
The current flag system is retained for Breifine, with the addition of a single flags within the Mt Collory, Cruachan Gorge and Emain Macha zones.
For the defending realm, the easier to reach keeps and flags in Mt Collory and Crauchan Gorge count less towards the realm task score, and the keep and flag in Emain Macha counts more. The opposite is true for the invading realms.
Owning a flag provides an additional bonus where the nearest keep has it’s guards and door buffed/debuffed depending on whether your realm owns it.
If you are killed and are dead for >3 minutes you can choose to release to the nearest flag owned by your realm rather than the portal/border keeps.
The task is active for 1 hour.
Every 15 min a participation reward “tick” is applied to each player who has been active over that period. These “ticks” include gold and feathers.
After 1 hour the task rotates to the next realm. The losing realm gets a 12 hour cumulative debuff to relic guards and relic doors, the winning team gets a 12 hour relic guard spawn in the two regular keeps closest to their border keeps. The winning realm also gets a significantly higher “tick” once the task completes.
During the middle 30 mins of the task (eg 0:15 min to 0:45 min) there is a public leaderboard showing participation. The leaderboard shows the top 50 individual players for: RPs earned, level 50 kills, RR5+ kills, flag participation score, keep participation score.
Future iterations could involve PVP mobs, hidden chests, carrying a flag etc.
