RP for sale - Phoenix Freeshard

I made that suggestion a long time ago on Uthgard, though it was a long shot there. Maybe it fares better on Phoenix.

Most people I know in DAoC can be put into two groups, those that primarily love RvR and those that primarily love PvE.

An RvR player will hate to grind coin for new gear or go on boss raids all the time, a PvE player will mostly zerg, do alliance events but generally not do RvR as much.

Why not give people the option to convert some of their RP into a sellable Lvl 50 RP token (read usable at lvl 50 only)?

If you need cash for a new armor or anything else just convert 1000 of your RP into an RP token that will give 1000 RP upon use (consumable) and put it up on your house vendor.

The neat thing is supply and demand will regulate prices, so there will always be a fair rate of exchange and more people can enjoy DAoC just the way they want.

While it sounds like a win-win. It would in fact open doors to abuses.

Someone farming gold outrageously to achieve RR.
It also removes the sense of achievement.

I just imagine the following :
"Wow, 8L"
"Meh, I bet he bought his rank, he is a noob"

Another related aspect : allow RP transfer within the same account to prevent regrinding everything or being excluded from groups because of low RR.

I think it removes to the game immersion.

Dont forget, prices will depend on availability and demand. If someone farms gold excessively to buy all the RP on the market, prices will eventually go up. And I dont see the bad side in that. If someone wants to play primarily PvE, why not let them? Right now everyone has some characters he wants to focus RvR on, but most players have a second toon just to farm gold and/or gear. Why not get rid of that farming toon, let people just RvR and let the farming be done by players that actually enjoy it. Plus some PvE classes are really bad in RvR, espacially 8man, to actually get RP on them is quite a pain, but you need at least some to make them better in PvE. With an exchange system everyone can not only play the game just the way they want but also their various characters.

Why would someone who doesnt like to RvR anyway want to buy RR? Also, people who arent good at rvr deserve to be low rr.

Because higher RR makes your character stronger obviously (even in PvE). Also saying only capable players become high RR is quite the fairytale, 70% is just showing up.

As funny as it would be to see Necros have the highest RR on the server, not worth the lolz.

Interesting idea, I'm actually curious what a 1000rp token would sell for? 1g? 1p? ^^ Think this 1 step further, you can actually farm coin by playing RvR like this.

Should this be implemented, it would certainly be possible to limit the use of those rp tokens to rr1-3 characters only (for example) so you cannot get rr5 just by spending coin. It would probably make sense to use some lossy ratio, so the token-creating character loses 10.000 rp and creates a token worth only 1.000 rp.

Having some realm abilities on a character while leveling is QoL in my opinion, too.

Could someone farm gold with their Necro, or other class, and purchase RP for a different character? If so, this is a terrible idea.
