I would like to propose a change in the relic system, using the strength of the existing RvR system while adding to it with relics to be more meaningful.

Make your own relics carriable into battle to boost the men's battle fervor!

How it'd work:

Designated player characters (not just anyone) will be authorized to carry a relic into battle. These players must be authorized by the Phoenix staff. The effects of doing so will be melee and magical bonuses to the realm's army for those in the vicinity of the relic on the battlefield-

Melee relic- melee damage add that stacks with any existing damage adds (5% in your own realm frontier zones, 10% enemy frontier zones)
Magical relic - power reduction for all spells casted (5% in your own realm frontier zones, 10% enemy frontier zones)
Range of effect will need to be determined- possibly 8,000 units?

Phoenix staff can designate players who apply based on the following merits (and others if deemed reasonable);

-Realm pride! A player must exclusively play on that particular realm
- Known in community as a leader (runs BG's, plays frequently)
- Realm players can vote applicants to assist Phoenix staff with authorizing players
-Authorized players can be capped to a select few- for example initial cap could be placed at 10 and adjusted from there as deemed necessary.

Why allow the relics to be carried into battle?

Presently relics have been out of favor for RvR task participation and aren't frequently battled for. This will bring the relics into prominence again and adds a dynamic twist to the old relic system by bringing the relics to the players on the battlefield (if chosen to)! This system may create a dynamic battlefield experience where players may stay in an area and fight with a relic aiding them or fight to capture an enemy relic "in play" -even if the RvR task has moved to a new zone.

The system will prevent abuse because only your realm's relic can be used for this purpose and only select players/characters can do this. Those players will be kept in check because those players can have their authorization rescinded if the realm's player base or Phoenix staff decides they are not taking their privilege seriously, aren't online/active on their authorized character as much, or ignore the community's request for a relic to be brought out to aid them repeatedly- rules for authorized players can be fleshed out more as determined/approved by community/phoenix staff.

Incentive to be an authorized player!

Players who become authorized to carry relics into battle will gain perks while doing so-

-1% gold for all kills the relic bonus affects
-1% RP's for all kills the relic bonus affects

The above is a reward for the players who will sacrifice being bound to only one realm, and other sacrifices they give for doing this, and additionally creates an incentive for the authorized users to bring the relics out more regularly or work to recapture lost relics again.


This is the proposal in a nutshell, the fleshed out version would need to be discussed and worked out. Would an idea like this appeal to the community? I'd like to hear your thoughts (pro or con). Happy gaming all!
