Realm switch timer. Suggestion

I'm taking this idea from another, non daoc, private server.
If you logged one realm, you can switch to another and than 1 hour of delay for another switch starts.

So: 1 free switch, than wait 1 hour.

I would prefer such a System too, but would THEN think a higher timer would still be okay. If you van switch immediatly 12hours again would still Make it easy to adapt to who of your friends come online at a given day while still hindering People to switch to flame

Current timer is 4hours, fighting to lower it AND change the system at the same Time is bound to fail.

and yes I was actually going to make this suggestion as well, you beat me to it. It doesn't even have to have the 1 hour delay to switch again, I would be fine with the normal 4 hours, If i had the option to swap between 1 realm for free. Definitely an idea that I think should be explored.

I think you would need to balance that with an increase in the timer. Say allow a free switch, but then increase the timer to 6 hours.

4 hours is basically 2 movies watched.. so much can change in that timeframe.

I'm torn..

On one hand, easy realm switch just makes the strong get stronger.

On the other hand, if those people without the ability to switch just log and stop playing that hurts population.

So what is better? Lower population and more competitive rvr or higher population and one realm just rolling over the others?

I would like to ask that you make another survey asking (again) what the realm downtime should be? Stay the same or change? After noticing relic hoppers from Hib to Alb or mid it wouldn't hurt to ask us once more what the timers should be. Are people satisfied with the 4hour or perhaps a change should happen? It dont hurt to ask. If you ask me, in the long term keeping people dedicated to 1 realm with longer timers on timer restrictions really helps the game to a whole.
