Range of enemy names showing.

With all the settings offered we find ourselves not sure if that guy or girl 20 feet away is an enemy or not.

So far my RVR experience has been soiled by this. In the live version you'd see the names from just under bolt range. Why is it different here?

Not only this but nearest target is terrible

Yeah, even in casting range you can't distinguish anyone. click 5 times into a combat just looking for a target.

Agreed...

The name plate distance is and has always been 725 afaik.

Yeah that sounds good and all but test it out. You guys have the camera position as the baseline for that. Zoom into first person, see names, zoom out, names vanish. Set the name plate distance to the character not the camera.

If this is the case, that might actually be a bug, or has it always been like that?
To me it also felt harder with names coming up so late, but i wasn't sure if i was just not remembering right and just needed to get used to it.

Would be great to have that changed imo, either as bugfix or as an intended change (not sure if we can call it QOL since it has direct RvR impact, but i think all would benefit approximately the same)

This is it. On Phönix, the distance is calculated from the camera position. That makes the range shorter than it should be.
Vote4Fix!

I would like to set the Distance myself. But it should be above 2000 i think!

It's definitely not that far and it's not something that should be customizable per player for balance reasons.

I believe posters above are correct, the problem is that the camera and not the character is used as the origin of that range check.

Its working as intended.

Well there's a very easy way to test this... whoever has a Live account can just log in and see if zooming in/out the camera affects player name draw distance or if it's based on the actual character's position.

I think if we could have name at 1000 of char no matter camera that would be amazing.
Speaking of camera it would be amazing to be able to zoom out like twice more.

Nobody has a live account to check this out on?

I played around with various resolutions and the old resolutions are a lot cleaner compared with the 1080 and above. It's easier to see the diff between a shar and an elf at 1280x than 1080p.

Just fyi.
