QoL : Buffing automation

Hello all,

Most players don't like the time spent buffing.
This time adds up to the already long time creating groups.
This mean that the time actually roaming / fighting is reduced => less fun / more frustration => population decrease.

This frustration is increased with casual players who :
- Can't keep up with who is buffed or not.
- Can't read chat to see who is notifying buff missing.
- Don't know / remember which buff should be distributed to which class and in which priority.

What I am proposing is to create a one-click button for any buffing char to buff instantly all char in its group with the following conditions :
- You are out of combat for 60 sec. To avoid abuse during fight and after a rez.
- Based on priority per class or class type. Example : caster : d/q > acuity > s/c. This could be customized with an interface with categories/classes.
- Based on class present in group : for example if 2 druid/cleric/shaman, the buff will be mixed to mitigate death of one buffer.
- Based on existing buffs power to avoid overwriting players who prefer to use charge.
- Based on all grp members in and out of range. To avoid buffing issues when members have not ported yet.
- Based on fair distribution mechanism. 1 buff to all, then 2nd buff to all before adding more buffs to other chars.
- Include resist buffs.

Alternatively, just make a buffing location (teleporter pad) in each realm. There, your buffs will be instant.

No idea if this would even be possible but it accomplishes what you want, and has no exploitable behavior.

edit: not necessarily endorsing the idea, but I think buff pad makes more sense

Buffing takes like 40s? You are so busy ingame that you dont have that time? Playing also reduces my RL time why not automate it?

When i read it i thought it was something for classes with timed buffs like theurg. Having 20 % mana after finishing buffing all grp with da haste and bt sux. But conc based buffs? Cmon. Can you be any more lazy?

We are always open for new ideas and suggestions, but my first (personal) thought after reading this was: Maybe we should implement that Npc-Healers cant cure the RvR-Sickness anymore, so you have more than enough time to rebuff.

Seriously, besides that I (personally) dont like the idea at all (I dont see any need for such a change), the effort and time to implement something like this is in no relation to the benefit this might bring into the game.

Is this a satirical post?

"This frustration is increased with casual players who :

- Don't know / remember which buff should be distributed to which class and in which priority."

So these casual players have goldfish level memory and can't read text or recognize icons after days/weeks of play? I know plenty of casual players are pathetically bad at the game, and watching the choices they make in RvR calls into question their mental acuity, but I don't think they are full on caveman mouth breathers incapable of basic thought and lacking any sort of short term memory. In fact, I'd be willing to guess they are grown ass adults that are working a job, paying bills and possibly even caring for other living things. I think it is well within the scope of their competence to learn about a handful of stats and recognize the 10 or so buff icons. If they can't read chat at this point? Well then maybe they have other issues and shouldn't be spending their free time playing computer games.

If the concern is new players coming to the game a simple, well illustrated guide explaining the stats and buffs would be a sufficient supplement to time invested playing the game. Many players managed to learn the game mechanics at age 12 or 13 without much difficulty or instruction.

I disagree that something like this is needed. If you are a buffing class and can't figure out which members of your party require which buffs, perhaps you should consider playing a different class. The coding work involved with making this requested change which (IMO) isn't needed would be a waste of resources.

Consider getting a UI replacement (like Bob's) that has a Healer's Helper and/or Group Buffs view that is more accommodating.
