In large scale Galla raids, there are often 400+ in the battlegroup. This kills performance and can cause lots of link deads.
Normally, 80-100 is the optimal number of players. As it goes past that lag and afk players makes things harder.
Would it be possible to enhance the /effects command to allow even lower performance requirements.
I am thinking of stuff like the following.
/effects cloaks on/plain/off
/effects armor on/plain
This command would change the cloak and armor textures.
Off: No cloaks on any players
Plain: Everyone gets the same cloak/armor with just color differences
On: Normal behavior
This assumes that guild cloaks are actually a performance problem. A single texture with only colors would be easier on the GPU.
/effects players <num> [group] [all]
<num>: Only show <num> players (random or maybe nearest)
group: Show group members
all: Show everyone
By making it random which players you can see, it would prevent having to recalculate things. The bg leader(s) should probably always be shown.
With nearest, it may be less obvious that players are even missing.
It would also be nice if the /effects self option worked where it showed your own effects but nobody else, but that is less critical.
Another option would be to instance the high level dungeons. Each battlegroup could have its own instance of the dungeon.
