Hello there !
Well !
I'm here cause i found no one talking about it on phoenix .
Having an 8 cores CPU my DAOC experience is altered by the game itself ..
DAOC that manage only 1 core is constantly switching between cores, something that can freeze DAOC for let's say 5/6 frames .. yes it can be a thing ^^'
SO
I created a little executable (.bat) that assign an affinity on phoenix .. i know that some players do it manually, it launch phoenix at 2 cores only, and, for me it's better !
Why 2 cores when i said only one core is managed ? Mmh it's better than 8 and let's say your first core is overloaded .. well the OS will choose the second and no problem at all ..
I will not post the .bat here but the code line is : Start /affinity 3 Phoenix.exe
U can write 1 for 1 core 2 for the 2nd core .. 3 for the 2 firsts 4 for the 3rd .. u know ^^'
just put a .bat file with that code into it, to create a .bat file there are 2 ways i will give you .. :
- create a .txt file with notepad ++ , put your codeline in it then save as a .bat file
or
- create a .txt file open it with your simple notepad included in windows , put the codeline , save the file, close it .. click on "view" in your file explorer , tick "extensions" and rename the file replacing the .txt by a .bat
any name for the file is ok as long that it's a .bat
The file should be next to your phoenix.exe file (in installation dir) then you can launch phoenix with that file or a shortcut of it ^^'
For moderators :I think it would be better if it was included in the phoenix .exe code ? but not sure .. so enjoy if it help u ^^'
IMPORTANT NOTE : if u got any problem just delete the file , i dont think that it will cost a ban as it's a simple cmd command in fact not more agressive than ctrl alt delete=> right click on daoc=> affinity 1&2
Sorry for my english !
See you on Frontier
