Open PVP in Frontiers. ROG is wonderful!

Playing only a few 5-8 man groups on Midgard from lvl 11-21 has taught me a few things:

A splash of Mordred.

Battlegrounds needs work. I've only popped into Thidranki one time and saw that there was virtually NOTHING there. Is there any chance we are going to see buff token NPCs for solo players? And quests/tasks similar to live to help pressure players to stay in the battlegrounds from lvl 20+? This will keep PVP and RVR busy while anyone else stays in the mainlands and has fun in PVE. I'm a huge RVR fan as I'm sure many others are, and that doesn't stray from the idea that a lot of work has been put into the bulk of the mainlands here. It also may seem like an easy way out, but considering everything else, I would be thrilled to see at least a little more work done to Battlegrounds. Maybe I need to progress through the levels more (and I'm sure that will give me more work with as far as a suggestion goes).

I also wonder if it would be at all possible to work Open PVP into the Frontiers. Many of us miss Mordred, and unfortunately, we only have one server to work with at a time. Having Open PVP in ONLY Frontiers [not BGs, not DF, not Border Keeps] would give players a reason to reach higher levels quicker and get into RVR faster at the top caliber of play Not to say that it would speed up the process, but it would give more incentive to get to PVP at high levels and have fun with everyone. Keeps could be controlled by Guilds, Realms can claim keeps within Guilds. - EVERYONE is killable, even guildmates unless you are grouped with them or battle-grouped with them. I hope this is possible, this would be an intense and interesting feature to RVR and DAOC for a single-server freeshard.

Or better yet, what about an Arena or new instance? A splash of Mordred

I am generally a Solo player, and I primarily played Mordred when we all played with the masses.

As for ROG drop system? I think it could be tamed down just a tad, although I LOVE the cash-out on a full inventory, and it can fill at a decent rate. I absolutely LOVE what you've done with the item index! This was one of the main complaints I had about Uth and Vanilla. Very well done! I have yet to get into crafting but I'm sure that's been given some 'roids as well!

Stealth - Mobs and Pets should de-aggro if stealth is popped mid-chase. Also, Why can mobs BAF to stealthed players? If they run through a stealthed player, they should be able to detect, hit, etc.. but only if they run through one. They should not be able to target and BAF to a stealther who is stealthed on the pull.

Resurrection Sickness resulting from RVR combat shouldn't be NPC-Healer recoverable.

I wish Phoenix would send a huge email blast to everyone who signed up asking them to forward that same blast to everyone they know and try to get more people to realize how much fun the game is again.

If the server goes to open PvP in frontiers I will be quitting immediately. The ENTIRE reason I play is for the realm vs realm vs realm NOT PvP in my own realm. I don't want to have to worry about my own realm mate attacking me if I am trying to help him.

As for pet deaggro after stealthing, I would say no personally. Stealthers already have a lot of perks. I would agree to a compromise though, make stealth useable as stated and get rid of poisons *shrug*. Stealthers have always been the worst people in the game at ruining the experience for people trying to level that I personally have ran into, I really don't want to give them anything more.

Espacially in frontiers, where the actual RvR happens, you CAN NOT have open PvP. That defeats the whole basic mechanic of RvR, which is the main reason people still play DAoC.

It might be nice though to have a dedicated open PvP dungeon with PvE content in the future. Just like Summoner Hall, but please not Summoner Hall.

Maybe the entire Frontier would be a bit much, What about an arena though? Somewhere in Neutral frontier area.

The PvP servers were the worst part of daoc. Flaming and bug using it was a pile of shit and was far from a proper place for competition. Everyone that think they have skill because they endured in this mess is wrong.

Played there as well I know what I am talking about. PvP areas just enable rp farming and toxicity. No thanks.

That's because they werent done correctly. Pheonix really let me down. DaoC is truly dead. This game cannot stand on 500 players peak activity, and 100 players deadzoned.

PVP and RVR are what made DAOC originally as saught after and high class as it was back in the day... unprecidented PVP and RVR mechanics cornered the MMO market until blizzard steamrolled everything with WoW.

by all but disintigrating PVP from this game, you fundamentally ruin the classical aspects of the game that made it fun to begin with.

they may have been RP farms and all that negative crap with 10s of thousands of players, but if the entire thing were enclosed around a small community like this, then it would work really really well... as for me. I'm out. thanks anyway.

What you even talking about. This is a beta and there was almost no rvr activity that showed that this server can't handle 500ppl.
There were plenty of PvP server that popped up in the launcher they all failed and had maximum of 100 players. If PvP server would be so popular why never any PvP server was longer around than few MONTH?
Well, kkthxbye I guess.

Seems to always be some Mordred diehard upset that their niche server isn't going to make a comeback.

I enjoyed Mord for what it was, but I understand why it isn't on the top of many peoples lists as to what needs to happen/come back. I like open PvP because it reminds me of Ultima Online, and playing like a lunatic insurgent within your own realm was actually quite fun.

... but it is what it is man. Most people don't want that. If you want open PvP, might as well go back to UO.

Ok lets try not to act like PvP itself was a huge draw for DAoC.

RvR is what made the game huge. Yes they had PvP servers but at the peak they were never as popular as the standard RvR servers.

Yes I know RvR is a form of pvp but much better done. Most people who played this game wanted the realm vs realm action and not an all out free for all pvp system. Phoenix has done more in a short time than I could have hoped for. Playing the beta and even seeing all the bugs they have to go through (huge props for their determination), I am already having more fun than I have had in 10 years.

Phoenix is doing exactly what it needs to encourage people to stay on path to 50 but also be willing to create alts to level at the same time. I have a wife range of leveled toons I swap around from because it is so much fun.

I wish Phoenix would send a huge email blast to everyone who signed up asking them to forward that same blast to everyone they know and try to get more people to realize how much fun the game is again.

PvP was a huge draw for daoc? how so? I found mordred very enjoyable. Like taking the game and adding a hardcore difficulty pvp mode. #watchyourback kind of gameplay is very fun for those who enjoy it. I'm not looking to recreate all of mordred, but an arena in the FZ in a location that all realms have access to sounds pretty intense, especially when you go there and its open PVP.

I completly agree with you. Played there for 8 years and i am sad to not revive this sensation again. Each player are free to like it or not. Just a copy of magmel zone ardee dl an dc tour open full pvp, a copy a region of gothw open full pvp, a copy of pk pkb cotswold and sauvage open full pvp and a copy of aegir zone open full pvp, with portal like and teleporter linking each other would be a fantastic add and an experience for everyones. Plus you could switch from one playstyle to another one when you got borred and have access to pve on regular set without getting ganked while xp raiding.... and mixing and keep both original ruleset in one this one would be the most viaable and reliable rules for everyones. This would be my dream for my only one loving mmorpg ever and probly the last hommage to this beautyfull game.

Loved mordred and never played on regular server. Don t know why tryed a few times and never my place there. This is just my sideview of what i liked and didn t liked there. Just my point of view.
