Nightshade mechanics are broken

Getting evaded for 37.5% on my RR5 hunter vs a RR2 luri nightshade is a joke (even with pet out)
For every swing I did, I did something horrible like 160 per swing, and they did 140 x 3 times.
Even purged and used IP3.. still died. They had 75% hitpoints left.

Something seriously seriously wrong with the Nightshade mechanics. They are overpowered.
(and no, they did not open with PA or backstab.. I popped them from stealth)

Evade 7 is flat 35% evade. Luri is a high dex/qui race so gets a little on top for that.

So even if he reached swing cap (which i highly doubt) he did 3 swings (= 4,5 seconds) while you did 1? Are you bad at counting or unbuffed without an sc?

Sure can happen, specially against an unbuffed hunter without sc. What's your point?

My brothers NS fought a SB today who had a 27% evade chance and evaded 7 out of 8 swings. Everything is RNG. Your damage complaint doesnt add up. I'll get hit by a thrust hunter for 225+ on my NS.

You also need to make sure you pet is out and behind your target. Multiple attackers reduce defense rates. You also need to make sure your spear is as high as possible if you want max weaponskill which will also reduce melee evade rates. Buffs and temp are also important but I will assume you were buffed and temped. Tricks like walk through back stun are also required so you get that stun off and can follow up with a few hard hitting styles. You also get the benefit having slash and thrust damage types with your spears so make sure you're swapping so you aren't dealing with an additional damage penalty when facing hib or alb leather.

2h vs high evade is brutal but you have ways to help yourself but you need to utilize them. You can of course get super RNGed to death. It happens to the best of us.

Well there we have the reason why almost nobody plays a hunter. If even ip and purge dont save you than there is something wrong.

I still lose to Infiltrators a decent amount of the time (Read: Constantly) when I use Purge and IP on my Ranger. SB's even still kill me a lot of times under those same conditions, despite the armor table advantages Ranger has. Sometimes I'm just on the bad side of RNJesus... Other times, I just get destroyed even without bad luck lol.

Cant confirm this at all. You had just bad luck, and now you complain?

I have seen a rr8 NS get his ass kicked by a hunter in a 1v1 melee 2 days ago.

What you describe is telling me you are probably not high into spear/bc for the better melee damage and buffs. From what I have seen after the patch hunters are really strong now. I don't know how a hunter can complain atm.

When you say they get 3 hits in, they probably gave you a haste debuff. You as a hunter have one too. Might use it, because it sure helps a lot in 1v1 melee fights.

Feanira posted a video in the video forum. Maybe check that out for help.

I am a Norse SB and when I fight NS I have about the same evade as them despite the fact I have lower dex/quick. The dex/quick is not a very big portion to evade, the main evade comes from Evade 7 ability.

NS are far from being overpowered.

Do you know how many off evade the attack speed debuff is on? 2. That means I have to evade, and get *the next two swings off* without them evading.
Nearly impossible.

And no, I am not 45 bow. I am 39 spear, 36 bow and with 52 composite weapon. So yes, I am spec'd right.

The first side style is a haste debuff too. And they are not hard to land even in a 1v1, same as your back stun.
