NF keeps with OF Terrain - can it be done?

Is it easy? No..
The problem is that they aren't allowed to distribute any modified game content, so modifying the terrain under the keeps can't be done. The footprint of the new keeps is much larger than the old ones, and all of old frontiers keeps are up on hills, which I believe is client side, therefore not changeable.

No. We discussed this before and it is not that easy to implement if not impossible. So will not happen.

Other question same direction: In the NF Thread alot of people are saying that OF is bad because of the milegate chokepoints. Is it technical possible to delete the milegate, or make the door wider to reduce the choke point?

I think having multiple port destinations is the answer

Shame, I thought that might be the case, but NF Keeps in OF would have been a massive improvement .

I'm not complaining, I get to play this awesome server because of it, but aren't they using stolen code and running another company's intellectual property already? Why stop there?

All daoc shards start of with DOL which is currently the only open source daoc emulator and available on github, smaller shards can usually get by without modifying much and most work there happens in the data / world building, for larger shards like ours (and very likely for Uthgard as well), the changes are to the point where it's not really recognizable anymore / more things are changed than are not.
None of our modifications contain any of the original code and, to my knowledge, neither does the DOL base code.

For the assets / client files it's different as that's just a clear cut copyright case though.

Even if possible, I still think NF is better. NF keeps in OF maps may solve the keep battle issues, but not the emain action only issue, or the choke point issue that at least I had with OF.

The Dawn of Light emulator code (server software) wasn't stolen, it was built from scratch over many years.

The issue with copyright comes on the client side. Technically, it's you, the user, who is breaking your agreement with broadsword by using their software to connect to another server than theirs. When Phoenix instantly stopped handing out client side modifications, I'm pretty sure they got a cease and desist for copy infringement.

Ps, I like the guys over at DOL, they taught me a lot about fixing/creating items (I fixed/created a large portion of the TOA items for the Storm server.)

can we have hib keeps in NF style, alb keeps in OF style and mid keeps in pink plz? ty

I have to say I really have enjoyed the test for NF. I hate to see it leave and go back to OF style as I hate the OF keeps for keep defense. I agree with the OF milegates should be either deleted or flipped so we can defend with the stairs on the MPK,APK or HPK side facing the PK. I love the NF test now because we have been able to have better keep defenses and better fights. NOW the keep guards are NUTTS...…. being that they pop back so fast and theirs so many of them. I have to say I have really enjoyed battling the hib zerg and alb zerg lately at the keeps. We had a great Eras fight and I watched a great battle at Surs yesterday between the albs and hibs after mids got wiped do to my bad call. Either way I say KEEP NF.. See you guys on the battlefield.
