The Necromancer class is a very niche class. It comes with its on special set of issues due to it being tied to an NPC the way it is. While it is not an "unplayable" class, it is a very frustrating class to play (possibly moreso here than on live). Some of the issues that Necromancers face are:
No RvR crit cap when hit. The Necro can be crit for over 50% damage , while no other classes have to face this. With the introduction of NF RAs this issue will be more prevalent as chance to crit is scaled easier/higher. This was fixed on live and feel it should be fixed here as it serves no actual gameplay purpose.
Base stats do not affect pet. This is more of a QoL issue than anything. Currently, there is 0 reason to pick any race besides Inconnu since the only stat that benefits at creation is Intelligence. Having base stats benefit the pet would allow someone the choice of going damage based or more cast speed based. Due to the shape change aesthetics of a class arent a factor.
Buff pots/charges/Ablatives dont affect pet. While every other class has custom charges/potions that fully benefit them there is currently no way for a Necro to become noticeably more effective via buffs without outside help. Having access to pots/charges would help the solo/small man aspect by being able to have the same toys as other classes. This would help the larger groups as well since the group buffer wouldnt have to spend as much con buffing the pet. This could also serve as a money sink as the Necro would buy 2 versions of pots/charges.
While the Necro is frustrating to play, it can also be frustrating to play against. With help with its disadvantages, it needs its advantages adjusted as well.
Spammable lifetap. While previously this was tied to the pets melee attacks, damage could be prevented by using attack speed reductions. here that is not an option as it is based solely on the shades cast speed. To help with the constant damage I believe the casting time should be increased to 3.5seconds.
Abominations weapon proc. Due to this being treated as a Necro cast spell it can reach pretty high numbers with Acuity+MoM+Relics and crit based on Necros Wild Power. Its nice seeing the pet nuke someone, there is little counterplay to the random DD that can potentially hit you several times in a row. I propose the proc be lowered from the 148 delve I believe it is to a 100 delve.
Pets ability to parry. The Abom has an insanely high chance to parry attacks. Cutting the parry chance in half would be deserving.
I understand some people will reference Necros being unkillable with buffs. A Necro with a Buff Bot is a completely different class than a Necro without. A Necro here will not come near the absorb factor as on live when 50 Enhance + 25% buff bonus was available to all. Seeing as buffbots are a bannable offense here, I believe the Necro class should be balanced around not having a bot instead of based on having 1.
