Making Relics on Phoenix Popular Again

The current Relic system is not very fun. A lot of players are dissuaded from taking part in the current system. The old system is flawed. 10% damage bonuses for the zerg realm running you over in Emain Macha? Many agree that is not good.There are some good aspects of the old system however. Relics should return to Relic Keeps. Right now it is not worth taking relics, because you have to hold them in normal keeps and the bonus is so low.

Scaling Down Relic Damage Bonuses

Restore the 10% damage bonuses, but make them scale down based on frontier population. The more players a realm has in the frontier, the lower the damage bonus is. Less populated realms would in turn get higher damage bonuses for taking relics. The damage bonus penalty would scale based on how overpopulated the realms are. If your realm is the most underpopulated then you would receive the full 10% damage bonus from a relic.

Lets say there are 60 Albs, 95 Hibs, and 140 Mids in the Frontiers. Midgard owns the Albion Power Relic. Hibernia owns the Albion Strength Relic. I barely passed pre-algebra so bare with me.

Hibernia Melee Damage Bonus would be 6.3%. 60 Albs / 95 Hibs = 6.3% damage (36.8% relic damage reduction)

Midgard Spell Damage bonus would be 4.2%. 60 Albs / 140 Mids = 4.2% damage (57.1% relic damage reduction)

The damage bonus % would show in /underpop. This way the two realms with higher population would still get a bonus, but not the full 10%. If Albion were to hold the Midgard Power Relic in this scenario, they would receive the full 10% damage bonus, because the lowest population realm would earn the full 10% bonus.

It is time for Relics to return to their former glory, well at least not fully.

+1 for this topic. since this is a "classic" server (with many NF changes (new ra system)) all relics should be held in the main relic keeps. the old days of raiding the relic keep which was already hard enough to get your own relic back. then having to leave half your raid to defend the open keep so you can return your relic and then take the remaining relics was golden.

and if not going back to all relics in relic keep, at least return keep doors to former glory. repairing and upgrading keeps how it was ment to be by use of Guild BP's.
keep the supply carts in with some sort of effect like a repair that they currently do but maybe greater value so when raiding keeps you would want to interrupt those carts.

Precisely. I think the old relic system is fine except for the way the bonuses work. Relics should be in Relic keeps. The concept here is to scale down the Relic bonuses based on frontier population. This way if the dominant realm has the relics and is overpopulated in the frontier, then they won't receive the full bonus. The more they outnumber the lowest population realm in the frontier, the less damage bonus % they receive. If there are 2x as many Mids as Albs in the frontier, then Midgard would only get half the damage bonus % from the relics they hold.
