/list merchant changes

Ok, a few things here:

First off, we used the private guild CM to sell items for at cost or below cost to people in our guild. It was 24/7 access to stuff you need when people are busy or not logged on; as well as, a way to ensure people only took what they need.

Unless I missed it, this ninja change nearly wiped hours of work by opening up merchants to the public.

I think this is one of those changes that did not need to be touched, I think it added no value to the server and I think it’s going to cause more logistical nightmares in the future trying to provide a service to folks, especially during times you’re engaged in rvr or simply logged off.

Please revert it back to the old method of being able to toggle the merchant on or off.

Thanks

The consignment merchants were already accessible by anyone actually going to the house, this particular use case therefore wasn't exactly supported.

The primary driver for this change is that there are many houses with filled consignment merchants but listmerchant off despite normal prices with the most likely reason being some players, especially newer players, not knowing about or forgetting listmerchant.

I get that anyone could have accessed the CM; however, keeping a super close eye on logs, no one outside the guild did. Particularly since the guild cm is in an obscure lot, and there are thousands of houses. Unless someone was going hunting for unlisted CM’s, by literally walking up to every single house and looking at the CM, this was relatively safe.

So, if some dude randomly visited the house and cleaned out the CM, that’s one thing. Ninja making the CM public without warning is a completely different thing.

Want to make it the default toggle, tracking. Giving people notice and the ability to toggle it off, would have been much appreciated.

I agree with the poster. We were using our guild CM to put up super cheap potions for guild members. We kept an eye on the logs too and no one outside the guild came to purchase off our CM. Please provide for us a guild merchant that can be placed on a hook point inside the guild house that would sell wares exclusively to guildies.

Instead of totally disabling the /listmerchant command could you just default it to on? That way new people would have their merchant listed automatically but if someone knew that they wanted it off they could turn it off manually.

But there is already a "nuisance message" window that pops up every time you access your CM. If the issue was lack of information for new players the listmerchant command information could have very easily been put there to remind them, rather than remove a feature that guilds took advantage of for helping their members.

Another very simple option would be to have listmerchant a toggle as it always has been in the past, but defaults to "on" when you first set up a CM. Win/win for everyone
