Hey we back bois with another edition of ICYBOIS SUGGESTIONS TO HELP NEW PLAYERS (and also old players who have gotten dumber since 2001)
1) REMOVE XP ITEMS FROM /MOVEITEM SELL LIST PLEASE, PLEASE GOD I'VE SOLD THEM SO MANY TIMES (and tons of other players have sold them so many times).
Yes, thank you /advice chat, I realize I can move them to bag 5 and not autosell that bag. That's great when I remember to do it. It's not so great when I don't, and new players ALWAYS make the painful mistake of autoselling them before they correct that behavior.
Phoenix eggs and other items are already exempt, PLEASE make xp items exempt as well. My insides hurt.
2) We still need documentation for new players. One of you homies out there with the time and energy please consider stepping forward or joining me in an endeavor to create a QuickStart Guide for Noobs. The gap from being brand new to 'kinda getting it' enough to have fun and enjoy this awesome game is actually quite a gulf, but with a little handholding we can greatly facilitate retention AND player enjoyment.
For ex: If I find a truly new player asking questions and seeming generally confused (and especially if they're starting to sound frustrated), I'll PM them, offer to roll a new tune, join them in Discord, and walk them through levels 1-6 or so. It's quick, easy, and so far they've all had a blast and kept playing.
Just a suggestion
3) Allow egg drops for duos (maybe reduce the rate?). I can't tell ya how many times I've turned down grouping someone who would normally be useful to me (I.e. I'm on Pally and there are reavers/infis/mdps about LFG) because I DONT GET EGGS. I'd literally rather gimp my speed AND their XP because it's faster to just solo out for eggs and XP items. At least this way, the problem of getting those realm-essential but pve-nonessential classes some valuable help.
Will this overpower necro/cleri cab/cleri? Sure. But there's already a 1000/hr cap anyway and those classes are slammin' PvE regardless. I think the benefit of getting some of those non-essential classes some valuable group XP would be #worth.
4) Further incentivize grouping non-essential PvE classes (sealthers, utility CCers, etc). Give bigger XP bonuses? Give eggs? Iunno. Something. Anything
Personally, I'm fine soloing these classes because I know where camps are/I have friends who will level with me/I have all the task items farmed. This is for the new player trying to jump straight in to, oh I dunno, rolling a SCOUT or something Right now, the current response to advise these players is- "LOL DONT ROLL A SCOUT"..lets make it better than that, shall we?
5) A command to keep track of XP items would be nice. For example, I've turned in X,Y,Z XP items so far so I can no longer turn them in. Would avoid a lot of confusion!
