GvG Marker

There's currently no way to tell if a group is signed up for GvG in your realm without peeking at the list. Could we have the GvG Group leaders have a banner over their head or something visible only to realmmates so that we can avoid spoiling their fair fights when we see them?

Not a bad idea.

But explain to me ... grps marked GvG can still kill soloers or small ? Because if answer is yes its not fair ... I running small have to not inc if grp marked fight vs another grp ... but they can steamroll my small ...

If answer is no ... sry for asking ...

yeah, that's sadly the case

it's because it isn't really an "honor-code" like they often proclaim, it's just pure self-service.
They don't add other GvG-groups, because they don't want to get added....not because they in general don't add because off the "honor-code" and because they only want fair fights

That was true for a lot of groups, even well established high rr ones, sadly. But there is another motive to consider for some kind of marker. With the latest changes in /gvg rules, a visible marker wouldn't be too bad for ensuring you don't add on a /gvg fight as a listed group by accident and violate the rules doing so, but tbh, if it's an ongoing fight I'm usually driving my group away, regardless of clear /gvg fight or not.
Apart from that, by ensuring the visibility you might promote more groups to use /gvg toggle because you minimise the risk of punsihment for an "accidential add" on another listed group. Recognising established groups is easy, but new groups/pugs sometimes get overlooked.
Regarding rolling solos etc., being visibly marked by something as a /gvg group might promote more respectful behaviour, but I'm not really sure of that. I fear that the server has been a red-is-dead feast for too long to have a real chance of establishing that kind of respect towards different playstyles.

Red is dead is the only existing rule in a war ...

And daoc is a game based on 3 realms at war ...

No matter self wrote honor codes or fair fight... the war is not fair ... anyway the grps that cry for no add are the same that kill small / soloer or add fight between small / soloer.

My grp is not marked and we kill any Red cruising our path ... no matter anything.

True thing, Gildar, but there are other parts that belong to this game and have their custom ruleset (fairfight/gvg).
Implementing a visible marker for those groups as I see it is more of a tool to recognise from a distance what's at clipping range. As clarification, I think this is a good idea because attacking an already engaged /gvg group as a listed /gvg group is an offence that can be punished by rp reset, so implementing a marker can be some kind of safety measure.
If you're group is not listed and encounters one of these groups engaged, feel free to add, it's in no way forbidden and of course part of the game, and the visible marker changes nothing. For a group that is new to /gvg or playing a different timezone agains unfamiliar players, a marker could prevent accidential adds that otherwise happen because you don't recognise a group from the distance. Checking the names of enemy groupmembers via /gvg list while closing in on an enemy is not really a viable option, so a marker could help to distinguish the realm war from the fair fight for group searching those. The updated ruleset discouraged many groups that listed earlier this year to use /gvg because of the possible severe punishment for such minor mistakes. A marker could clear things.
Off Topic: While I'm at it, the red-is-dead thing was on all servers I ever played on, but apart from that you had other playstlyes that coexisted and didn't intermingle much. I can't say why, but on Phoenix, there was no separation and coexistence, and you can still see this by groups looking for /gvg fights close to the zerg or in the task zone, what annoys everyone, because the fights get interupted, groups disengage or switch on adds, groups draw out etc. I don't think there is a simple solution to solve this problem, but implementing a way to clearly distinguish between realm war and fair fight may help.

I'm pretty sure this is something that would be technically impossible to do (or at least extremely difficult). The engine just doesn't seem built to work this way. Think about how you can't have damage numbers pop up over enemies' heads and such. Good idea or not, I don't see it happening.

well banners can be an option, like /gc summon.. and im pretty sure there was another freeshard that made it so people cant do damage to your fights. that command is basically already in with the /nohelp command. but I doubt that would ever be an option (nor should it honestly, maybe in an event).

but the easiest way to mark a gvg group would be the banner command, and if possible make it only visible to people not in your group or something.
