Duels, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, etc. - Phoenix Freeshard

I remember years ago there was a freeshard dedicated to duels, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and so on. You would form a group then port to a designated arena, or there was a choice of places you could go, I don't really remember - but they were closed off areas where only your fight could happen. Maybe this could be something you could implement later on down the line for practicing moves or fighting for the fun of it (no RPs or extremely reduced RPs). I mean, it's far from live-like and may not be part of your vision but it's something to consider.I think it could help people practice for real fights, and I remember it being extremely fun.

The easiest way would be to just make it a group duel function.

The group leader could challenge, and if the other group leader agreed, then all members of both groups are asked to consent.

Once agreed, there could be a countdown to when the duel starts.

For even larger 'duels', it could be battlegroup based.

Only if you were not awarded any RPs. If RPs were an award, rvr would suffer greatly

Nope, this is not an Instance RvR game.
And more especially this is not an instance RvR server.

I can understand, always fun to have a proper 3v3, but what for the soloers trying to kill some ?
What for the 3mans able to do more than 3v3 ?
We all loose the action just because every small man is in a hidden no accessible instance arena fight ?

I know it's never fun to get ganked by a FG when you are just 3 dudes, i hate that aswell ... But start arena RvR, you'll kill the real one.
What's the next step ? 8v8 arena ? And then why not 20vs20 ? Oh wait ... we now have WOW wrong pvp system... That escalated quickly !

Right, I see your point and I know it would draw players away from the real RvR. I don't expect the instance duels to ever happen on this server. Maybe my suggestion will inspire some people to pop up a i50 duel server like in the old days.

IF IT DID HAPPEN (and it won't I'm sure), you could dissuade people from spending all their time in the duels by making it reward no RP. The only progress you make is improving your playing ability. I think what would happen is this would become the settling place for super high RR folks. People would get matched up against them then realize they need more RPs to compete so they go to real RvR to get them, then they come back to duels. Super low RRs who match up with other low RRs get bored at the lack of moves and variety in their fights and go to RvR to get more powerful. RvR isn't dead when half the server is levelling their lowbies or farming feathers. Half the 50s are sitting AFK in PKs anyways.

There's obviously a lot of holes to be poked through this suggestion and that's why it's here. It's not a coup to destroy the integral fabric of the Phoenix server.

Does anyone remember the name of the freeshard that did this back in the day? I'd donate for a recreation.
