Bringing some of the population back

I whole heartedly think this is the best DAOC server i have ever played, and personally hate seeing the pop fall.

Personally i think it would be a cool idea to have a newsletter sent out (nothing spammy maybe once a month) to all emails giving some of the highlighted changes that were made. To show players what has been changed, and maybe whats on the horizon. Heck it may even just be a reminder that the server still exists.

Maybe some other suggestions?

I've always thought this would be a huge bonus for the server.

Just have a general status of the server and any changes done in the last month as well as future plans or ideas.

I think once a month would be a non invasive way to keep people updated.

2. Allow dual logging but not in RvR.
3. Go back to OF instead of NF cause NF is too big for the tiny population here.
4. Remove recent changes to XP gains.

1. You agreed to the rules when you made you account and decided to play on this server, the ONLY reason you would have been banned was for breaking one of these rules.

2. Dual logging would not help anything, in fact it would make certain classes obsolete like we saw on live. Which would result in those people playing those classes to likely leave. Counter productive.

3. They can not go back to OF even if they wanted to, this is old news and OF wouldn't help. The only reason people think OF is actually smaller is because NF has EV, which no one already goes to so the size difference is a moot point.

4. I actually agree with this.

Wrong - should enforce even stricter ban policy on childish behavior and breaking the rules, especially multi accounts and cheats...

Let's be honest, most of the community is adults who has been playing for years. If someone can't follow the rules, or if someone acts out like children, lets just get rid of them. We don't need them in the community.

Let's be honest, most of the community is adults who has been playing for years. If someone can't follow the rules, or if someone acts out like children, lets just get rid of them. We don't need them in the community.

For that, the staff would need to assume a clear dictatorial stand and they've so far shown a pretty big intention of establishing some sort of democracy.
I think a "you don't like so fuck off" attitude is needed sometimes let's say after a few strikes... Thinking of the "insisting of being non-incel" snowflake not getting over a smooth 3d bans bragging not being able to make a gmail address for his account and store the passwords in his brain or a text file if the later ain't working despite its BIG IQ ... but hey, that's just me. A too strong attitude did not do well on Uthgard so maybe they have perfect balance here actually.

This is my opinion also.

This game is free. Dev's here donate time they could be doing other things or spending with their families (maybe that's why they are donating time though). If people want to be jerks or childish, just get rid of them and let those who just want to have fun and play the game continue.

So you lose 10% of your player base, in return you gain a happier population who aren't nearly as disruptive.

I don't wanna derail this thread too much but i think Bard Amnesia (talking about the insta+speedcut+range combo) is a huge issue for smallman / solo incentive. I mean i run less and less on hib because you only need to not pay attention for a split sec and suddently you're in range of amnesia or close enough that a hib FG will chase you across the map cutting off till they catch you with amnesia.

I'm sure i'm gonna get shit for this (but yes i prefer to smallman / solo atm) and i realize it should put me at a higher risk of getting killed buti think a 1850 range seems way more reasonable without really punishing bard gameplay. The thing is some people like this smallman / solo playstyle and if you lose solos / smallmans the rvr is gonna get more bland and eventually if you only have 8man grps / zerg it's gonna kill the fun of rvr.

I also think adding the gems that existed on live (to get hastener speed out of combat) would be cool to make more classes viable in solo.

(i realize some of these things might have been discussed before but i havn't seen it discussed on the forums recently)

My 2 cents anyway.

EDIT : Just saw that there is a post about nerfing bard amnesia from a few days ago, missed that one.

LOL, many many many people are able to easily follow all of the rules.
Why is it that you can not follow rules? Are the rules too hard for you to understand?
Perhaps you know an adult who could explain them to you.
