Autogroup for frontier

Apologies if there has been a thread on this already, but I couldn't find it. I really loved the /autogroup functionality during the event. I would totally use it in addition to manually searching around for a group, kind of like the lfg finder from back in the day. If you're sitting in the relic town and your toon has /autogroup turned on, you would automatically get placed into a group. The group leader can set /autogroup 4 for example to limit the group size to 4 if they wanna keep it small. As simple as that. If you wanna make it more obvious than an obscure slash command then add an npc named 'Matchmaker' to the relic town that has a dialogue where you can turn on your autogroup flag by clicking (and then the dialogue can explain the /autogroup command as well). I wouldn't add any functionality for limiting classes etc because the element of autogroup I liked a lot is the random aspect of it.

I think the idea is beautiful but unfortunately it works best with small groupsizes.

In DaoC, especially at the late RR stage of Phoenix and the risen skill level across all content, a /autogroup of 8 will do nothing but feed balanced built 8mens outside zerg content.

If you wanted to implement a groupfinder, you would have to make it very selective for always building a optimal groupcomp, then groupfinding would take long and if someone /disbands you'll sit around waiting for a replacement of the optimal class again. (just like you do if you actively build 8men pugs - all the time)

If you enjoy playing in 8mens and have some experience, i recommend starting to build your own pug every day at the same daytime, you'll find that very soon you have a returning player pool that fit your playstyle and character. The longer you do this the faster your pugs fill and the longer your grps stay together (beware, people have a lot of rl, so you still have to replace people all the time, just not half the grp anymore).
