Advice Advertising - Phoenix Freeshard

/Advice is, well, for advice. Yet, many of us use it for global chat and off topic discussion, me included. Guilty as charged.

However, advertising on /advice should not go unpunished because once one person starts doing it without penalty, then more and more are going to take advantage of a global channel to advertise their warez and house location. It should be frowned upon.

1st offense: warning
2nd offense: 3 day ban
3rd offense is the 3rd strike and you're out.

As far as the off topic discussion, that's going to happen but the advertising should be nipped in the bud before it gets out of control.

GM has noted advice channel is for general global chat not just advice.

Also don't see the big deal of advertising a bit but any excessive spam, e.g. Guild Recruitment, Goods & Wares, PL services, should be punished if it is constant. There is a trade channel for goods so that is probably a bigger offense.

Well we have a dedicated trade channel, so any form of advertisement should be limited to that channel, simply because of the fact that you can choose which channels to display at any given time. If I dont want to buy anything, its simply annoying to be spamed with offers all the time. Only solution is to personally disable advice too, which has its own downsides.
Therefore please regulate aggressive marketing. This is a game.

I agree with this other than in beta I tested /trade range and it only reached the areas directly linked to where you are. So if I post it in TNN it was ONLY visible in TNN.

They need to make it realmwide and let people turn it off if they don't want to see it.
