People are littering discussions with "I dont like that", "lol" and "I don't like that too" etc.
Give them a button "dislike" so they can express their disagreement without littering discussions with their posts not including any arguments or constructive criticism.
Considering the amount of petty people on these forums I'm not sure this is the best idea. It is only beta and there are already plenty of users that would smash that dislike button and, based off the "thumbs up" patterns I've noticed on certain topics, likely brigade certain users and threads.
There is a reasonably large undercurrent of childish behavior and entitled attitude on these boards-- despite the fact that we are all adults and the youngest of us are in our late 20s. I think a dislike button would just embolden these people and be another outlet to vent their unyielding, impotent nerd rage.
Sure it would be superficial, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't affect have a psychological effect on people and create a more negative environment over all. It's great that some people are woodenly immune to criticism and judgement, but there are plenty of voices that would quickly be stifled once the thumbs down start pouring in.
Better to keep the system as is. If someone posts a low effort disagreement to a well-thought out post it should be dismissed with just as little effort.
Perhaps a "hide post" +/- button would be more useful and not drag inherent negativity along with it.
