Ok I love all parts of DAOC. I do have my fav faction. But I enjoy playing all 3. I dislike only playing 1/3 of the game.. I also hate Xrealming when one faction is winning or losing . 12 hours seem a bit overkill to me. 3 or 4 hours is plenty of time to avoid cheating. I mean if thats why your doing it.. Please consider lowering the timer ..
I would like to see it reduced as well, though it seems unlikely. If I main hibernia, have a guild there, participate in RvR/Raids/Etc. but want to try out a midgard character, i'm screwed. If I hop over to mid and just kind of goof around with a class i've never played, get them to level 5 or whatever, then i'm basically stuck playing him the remainder of the day/evening and cannot participate in any of the above tasks. I think for the majority of us, a 12 hour lock out is essentially a 24 hour lock out, because we aren't logging off at 10pm, and then hopping back on at 10 am. We are at work, interacting with family, or socializing.
The part I really don't get, and i'd love to get a bit more perspective, is what exactly would you gain by cross realming? What intel could you provide to your preferred realm that isn't all ready common knowledge? The tasks are plastered on your screen, the other realms are going to pretty obvious spots, and there is rarely any deep strategy involved in frontiers. I'm uncertain where the advantage lies, or what exploits would become possible if say, there was zero timer preventing us from accessing all 3 realms. If the timer was an hour, what could you possibly provide another realm? Your information or ability to show up to a contested area would be outdated and delayed beyond use.
