Xrealm timer verification

Hey,
If I forget the hour at which I logged off on Alb, how can I check when I can log on on Hib?
Does logging too early (before 12 hours have passed), leading me directly to alb character selection, reset the timer ?
Or does the timer only reset when you actually log on a character?

You can access the characters screen without activating the timer. Only logging into the game or creating a new character does. You can even delete one of your character without messing up with the timer thing.
