Why buff potions and items (in frontier)

I like the concept of Phoenix really much - but i didn't understand why buff bots are disallow (i agree 100%!), but on the other side you can run solo nearly full buffed through the frontiers.
For me it is the same thing, play solo full buffed like in group, destroying the advantage of self buffing classes in 1vs1.

It's also not as big a deal as you think it is. Even at 36 Pathfinding my Ranger buffs are better than potion buffs.
