Weapon dmg calculation...critical stat vs spec

Is the exact formula for weapon dmg calculation known?

Just trying to get a feel for the criticality of things like stat vs spec (for example str vs blades spec level).

I always operated under the impression that spec level controlled variance where as stat helped push your max dmg toward the highest point.

For example, with my current buffed dex and I can crit shot level 45 caster opponents for the same amount as I crit shot grays. However that dmg drops way off vs level 50 opponents. Is it a function of dex vs opponent AF or does level of opponent figure in to the equation? Just really trying to get feel for how valuable high levels of aug dex or aug str are.

The max damage is always and only determined by the weapon itself and your level and potential dps boni / buffs. Everyone, regardless of spec, has the same max damage, aka cap, given the same level, weapon and dps buffs. Spec up to enemy level + 2 and stats and everything help you get closer to that value while enemy level and enemy armor / absorb / resists reduce it.
Note though that there is a dps bonus based on spec for 2h weapons, that's where the increment you see when above 52 archery comes from.
Melee / physical variance is literally just a random 50 and has nothing to do with spec and cannot be changed, here it's set to a fixed value.
