There WILL be a switch macro to change inventory slots in the game. It is kind of in right now (/switch) but it's broken because we've rewritten inventory so many times I've lost count.

Use /switch to see the available commands.

/switch 1h [x] (where x is the Number of the Slot in your Bags) switches 1handed Weapons into your 1h-Slot.

Afaik this only works with Weapon Slots right now.

I have never used macros to weapon switch. Someone mind explaining the concept to me?

Using a button to swap weapons from your inventory without having to click/drag it into the slot?

I think the best example would be for a Merc or Bm specced in shield. Instead of having to drag and drop a shield on to your left hand slot from your inventory to slam a target, you can do it with just the hit of a button. Same as a Hero using different weapon types depending on the target.

That sounds like something I need for my SB to poison swap. Awesome. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

It certainly takes alot of the micromanaging and skill out of weapon swapping in combat as an assassin. Not sure that is a good thing.

I think I am the only one who would prefer no weapon switching in combat without some penalty or at least taking some amount of time, maybe 4-5 seconds before your combat round begins.

I always found it very cheesy that you could wield a hammer and shield and run in and slam someone, and then switch to 2handed for damage in the blink of an eye.

Weapon switching has been a part of DAoC since day 1 and will be in until the day the gates of Camelot crumble to dust.

ON live, I used to play Polearm and shield Armsman in PvE: swing, pull out shield during reswing timer and then reequip pole and swing. I got pretty good, but not as good as my roommate who used to do it on a Pally, while twisting chants. (No macros)

I quite like the charm of dragging and dropping a shield or offhand on my BM. Like switching LWs on a hero for damage types. It just gives you that little extra edge over other players who sometimes refuse to put in that effort.

Adding a macro will make these moves more mandatory. but also more comofortable.

Personally I'm fine with or without these macro's, but I can see why there's a demand for it.
