Swimming guards

Not any real issue and it doesn't make any difference to behaviour, but why do some guards appear to be swimming on the spot?

It's just something I have always wondered, is it because they died in the water and upon respawn carry over the 'in water' state? Or is it some sort of client side bug?

I'm curious as well.

I used to think it was guards which were pulled into water and then resetting, but I've seen this behavior in guards that are nowhere near close enough to be kited into a body of water before resetting.

There's a flag for 'swimming', 'flying', and 'ghost', and they do exactly what you think they do. Why certain guards have it set is probably error from fumbling macros. At least on DOL most mob placement and settings was done with /commands ingame

That would be the case with the flying and ghost flag, those are only set in the backend / before placement. Swimming is set dynamically when a mob got down to the water level at a given location. Guards are slightly buggy in that they retain the flag when they go back to their spawn point.
