Stress Test and switching realms

I remember reading that there is a 12 hour time window that needs to pass before you can log on to another realm. Totally understandable. I just created characters on Midgard but didn't log into the game (just character creation). I wanted to create characters in other realms too but when I hit the realm button, but nothing happens. Is it 12 hours from when you create a character, or log into the game? Thanks!

Should be 12 hours if you log into the game from what I understood and remember reading, but I could be wrong. Have you tried logging out and then logging back in?

They said in Discord the other day that character creation (even if you don't log into the game) also starts the realm timer, specifically to keep people from switching to all three realms in 5 minutes and claiming all those names.
