I'd like to see the IP too if possible, as we don't have a ping city for Asia/AU zone, using SF atm hoping it's best.

Is possible to know at least the difference between nuremberg and falkestein EU? arent they around the same zone in the end?
A ping command or something would help.

Ping to proxies was removed as that would give out the ip of all proxies at once which resulted in the proxies themselves to become easy targets.

As long as you don't select a completely nonsensical proxy that makes the route even longer it shouldn't exactly matter for most cases. If you have a 20ms ping to a proxy but the proxy to server is 100ms it would be no different from a proxy you have a 80 ms ping to which itself has a 40ms ping to the server. The only case where it really matters is if you have packet loss / in general a bad connection to one of the data centers but not the other, while not an ideal situation you would just have to try another region in those cases.

With the asian example though it is fairly relevant. I live in Cambodia and am something like 2200km from germany and 2400km from san francisco. Routing in this part of the world can be archaic and so there's been a number of other games that going through seemingly nonsensical servers, geographically speaking, was the answer.

I understand the reasoning though and it's not the end of the world... I have a constant ping running to google.de and university of san francisco website most days to try and identify which is best that day, it's all I could think of.

Same here, im in Japan and thought logically SF would be best for my route, but it isn't at all : i had lds and lags all the time, so i changed for Falkenstein and got a better cnx as the previous one, with only few lags/lds as it was before this proxy thing. My guess is the route to the states had worser hops as the one to Falkenstein for me, so in my case the length of the "tube" doesn't matter, have better results with a longer one.
