Phoenix Login app region?

(newbie) When I start the Phoenix Login app, it comes up with a Region. I'm just curious: Are those selected at random? I would assume it would be optimal to select the closest server.
Is there any documentation on the app?

The 5 "regions" are proxy servers to mitigate connectivity issues and protect the game server itself from the majority of attacks.
Try each one and stick to the one you make the best experience with.

Each player plays on the same game server, regardless of the proxy selected.

Thank you, Ashok. With that in mind, I've noticed while there is one character .ini file (<toon>-41.ini), there are several .ign files (<toon>-13, <toon>-27, <toon>-76, <toon>-others). Shouldn't the ignore file be a single file as well?
