With the crafting changes - has anything changed for salvaging ? Still cheapest to go tailor?

It doesn't really matter as you can get your secondary skills higher than your primary. So you can pick any craft you want and just raise to 900+ by buying materials and making trinkets. 900 seems to be enough to salvage lvl 51 items, but I can't say for sure because I hit 1300 with most of my secondary skills before starting to salvage high level items.

You really want to be 950, so that you can trinket 2 arcanium at a time to save on time, but with craftqueue it isn't as much of a hassle, so a few seconds here or there is really the difference between 900 and 950, afaik you should still get maximum salvage while having secondaries in the 900-950 range though.

I heard that it doesn't matter about salvaging because you make more by selling to the merchants at the moment. I could be wrong but that's what I heard in game.

I checked and it is not true, at least for metal weapons and studded/chain armors. I bet it is the same for staves, shields and bows as you get 12 units of wood.
