mana-reg: more than 6 useless?

hi, atm i hear legends that more than (cumulated) 6 manareg are useless....so for instance the yellow pom of combined forces gives +4 and serenety 2 gives +2 = 6.....and more serenety would be useless...is that true? (i hope not)
