Login Queue at launch

Is there going to be a login queue?

If so, will it open before the server actually goes live?

If someone arrives at 11:59 CET on Saturday, will they be at a disadvantage relative to someone who arrived earlier?

It's a good question but, as for one part of your post, I'm pretty sure NO ONE other than staff will be able to 'arrive' earlier than Noon CET on Saturday.

I would be very surprised if the server is at capacity at launch time. The launch is between 3am and 6am in North America depending on your time zone. The vast majority of NA people are not going to be trying to log in in the middle of the night .

You will be! You know you can't miss the first minute of a launch.

On a Saturday? I expect a LOT of North Americans to be online for start of launch, especially those from Central & Eastern time zones.

I am often awake at 5am on account of being elderly. If so, I will probably log on.

you are underestimating the size of the EU crowd, and the amout of people getting up early for it in the US.

But yeah, the load will probably increase even further during the first hours (EU primtime coming, US waking up) then stay a bit while EU starts going to be, but US goes into Primetime. Then around 15hours after launch we should a dropoff in load.

I was thinking that they might open the server that is handling the queue before the actual server.

Once the server actually opens, then it can start allowing the first person in the queue to join.

This would mean that someone who arrives around when the login queue opens would be ahead of someone who arrives at 11:59.

This isn't a Black Friday sale man. If you create a queue line before it launches then you're still gonna have the same problem for when the queue starts initially and all the geeks eating pizza pockets waiting for the queue line to start.

The better question is who do I have to bribe to hold my 1st spot to get into the game when it launches? 🤫

You're assuming they have a queueing system at all, which they don't:

Well that answers that question then. Thanks for the link.

That means that ideally everyone should try to spread out as quickly as possible. If all players are near each other, then it increases the network bandwidth required.

Release day normally means insta-killing all the level 1 mobs near Connia.

Thankfully 1-5 is so fast here that it should be fine. On uthgard that took like 2 hours...

I expect at least half of the early leveling to be done in SI.

One reason we had the stress test characters start where they last logged out
