Is there a Howl in Midgård on Phoenix? On live back in the days and on Uthg he spawned at 30k 56k in Myrkwood, but the dogs (dark hound) are in a different location here, so I reckon he might be as well, if he exists.
Would love to get an answer on this, been killing dogs for three levels now and even though it's a nice neighbourhood, there's not much of a bonus on the dogs either, and if it's a fruitless effort, I might as well move on and focus on next target.
