Help for a beginner please (Log In Problems)

Dear people,

i just installed the launcher and registered a new account. Now im facing a problem i cant solve:
- I cant get in to the game, loading screen says each time: "Hit ESC to exit game"
Something wrong with my game client? its old and from a time i played live servers couple of years ago. Playing in eu, i checked all 3 given region choices (falkenstein, nuremberg, helsinki).

I just downloaded the game via this site and did the install according to their instructions and I get the same issue. So maybe something is up with the servers?
