Saw that someone was recently banned for "griefplay". When I search this term on these forums it is only mentioned on the ban post. What is it?

I guess its when someone intentionally, influenced by his "awesome" (rofl) personality ruins someone else´s gaming experience. Normally, that won´t mean RvR, but in most cases, some semi-grown ups just do something really, really stupid to annoy their own realmmates, e.g. pulling every mob even if they are grey, just to harm the other player, or release an extremely aggro pet within their aoe radius and such.

As an example, Carinaopsheet once casted amnesia into a full pull of a focuspull grp on Uthgard, causing them to wipe, just because he wanted to pull the mobs himself. Thats griefplay.

It is actually in the rules.

"3.1.2 Training is defined as pulling, or leading a hostile NPC or creature along behind you and attempting to get it to attack another player who does not desire that engagement. "

Has anyone tried to kill the stablemasters in various places?

I was wondering about that, or killing various other npcs.

May as well fix it/deal with it in beta.

It doesn't say that player was banned for training though so why would I search that or know to consider that as griefplay? I'm asking for clarification on griefplay not Training, thanks.

It never happened. He was playing cleric in a feather group and got heal aggro and the group wiped. The salty roleplayer kicked him from group and appealed him and the gm just banned without checking. They couldn't even tell him what mob he was allegedly pulling into his group

So say a group is pulling Grovewood's and have been for awhile, then a high lvl animist comes over to where they are at and drops a full dump of shrooms 10' away...

Is that considered grief play? I know camps can't be claimed but this is a little over the top...

On the flip side, say I, as a bard, happen to pull a bunch of grovewood and decide I don't want them anymore so I want to run away and lose agro. Say I MAYBE run through the shroom simply not paying attention and they happen to pull everything I had and it kills the Ani, is that griefing?

Both sides need to be looked at and I will say I see more Animists then all other classes combined who seem to just come in and take over a camp. With the shrooms that means no one can even pull without shrooms still hitting.

I'd say it all comes down to intent at that point but I do not envy the GMs in charge of finding out someone's intent you'll never really know unless they're dumb enough to put it in chat or something then go pull Princess in DF someone's shrooms or something.

I'm more worried about the ambiguity of the term and worried that without a clear definition , going forward we are risking tons of just drama because people think they can do something when in fact the staff will ban that person for that action, but there's no rule out here saying it clearly, etc flame wars, GMs are nazis accusations, etc - type of talk we should all avoid by clearly defining it, don't leave it like the supreme court talking about they know it when they see it for certain stuff.

He joined the group, ran through AC through multiple camps and wiped the group on arrival with his train of mobs - he also knows how to run to the spot without getting aggro so it was suspect right from the start. Then he didn't heal at all and let a half wipe happen. Then he started spam-healing even before the focus began, purposefully pulling aggro to get people and the bombers killed. Each time the group was open-minded and asked him to correct his behavior. Then he did it again. Then he was kicked. Then he stood around and harassed people and talked shit. That's what happened.

He is not a newb and did all of this on purpose, it wasn't innocent.

But... but if one of his closer friends says he didn´t do anything, why shouldn´t we believe him?

Training is part of griefplay.
