Is darkness falls still a thing? And is it only accesibale to the realm in control? Which realm is that? I also see that Midgard has a abundance of players I’d like to go against them which realm should I choose and which class would fair me best in rvr

It is still a thing, DF control is based on which realm owns the most keeps/towers. Includin EV towers and battlegrounds CKs. Alb during NA time is generally pretty dead other than one or two set 8mans who don't group with anyone else. It is impossible to tell you what class will be best for you because it will depend on your play style and what you want to do.
