Buff Range

The other thread about afk buff made me think...

I think most of us played back in 01 when it came out, and we're not working adults, so I for one always enjoyed being a healer (cleric for 7 years) and in the off chance that I'm running around questing, crafting, wandering, I love buffing random players and lowbies to make their experience better.

It's understandable to restrict range to prevent buff bots, but it also seems to restrict on a style of play.

If this is something that cannot and will not change, then how about having the timed AoE buffs making a comeback? That way we can drive by buff lowbies and be on a timer like most damage add/damage shield buffs that casters give out.

Thanks!

The opportunity for exploit is not worth the added benefit of 'buffing random lowbies'

Someone can make a second account, level it up to 50 (like normal) then dual log for only a split second to time buff themselves and log out. They could log back in only when they need to reapply buffs. This would make it way more difficult to catch someone exploiting a dual log/buffbot.

It's a zero add benefit with a bigger opportunity for negatives.

no buffbots allowed, then it should stay like it is

We will not remove the Buff Range.

That’s the reason why I always loved DAoC‘s concept of timed, slightly weaker AoE buffs. These buffs were introduced with patch 1.69. So, very close to Phoenixe‘s 1.65 setting. Maybe there is a chance to see them implemented @maxim ?
