At least the "copper" versions of the craftable spears on hib are not wieldable by the Hero class. Probably all other material tiers as well, but I was not able to test this on the stress test server. When attempting to do it, you get the system message "You have no skill using this weapon type!".
It could be related to this:
The description says "Spears Weapon", when it should be "Celtic Spear Weapon". My guess is, that they have the wrong weapon type identifier (from Mid Hunter's "Spears Weapon"
, which results them being unwieldable by the Hero class.
